The International Pharmaceutical Federation first adopted the guidelines for Good Pharmaceutical Practice in 1993.  These guidelines were developed as a reference to be used by national pharmaceutical organisations,  governments,  and international pharmaceutical organizations to set up nationally accepted standards of Good Pharmacy Practice.
The revised version of this document was endorsed by WHO in 1997 and subsequently approved by the FIP Council in 1997.  The GPP Guidelines are based on the pharmaceutical care given by pharmacists. The guidelines recommend for national standards to be set:

* The promotion of health ;
* The supply of medicines, medical devices, patient self-care ;

Paracetamol relieves pain and fever in adults and children, and it is the most widely accepted medicine for this purpose. It is used mainly for its pain relief properties either as a medicine prescribed by a doctor or it can be purchased as an over-the-counter medicine both in retail pharmacies or grocers shops.

There are virtually no groups of people who should not take paracetamol, and interactions with other treatments are not a problem.

When taken at the recommended dosage, there are virtually no side-effects.

Pharmacy (from the Greek φάρμακον 'pharmakon' = drug) is the health proffesion that links the health sciences with the chemical sciences, and it is charged with ensuring the safe and effective use of medicine.

The scope of pharmacy practice includes more traditional roles such as compounding and dispensing medications, and it also includes more modern services related to patient care, including clinical services, reviewing medications for safety and efficacy, and providing drug information. Pharmacist, therefore, are the experts on drug therapy and are the primary health professionals who optimize medication use to provide patients with positive health outcomes. Pharmacy is also the term for an establishment where pharmacy (in the first sense) is practice (synonym: drugstore). The first pharmacy in Europe (still working) was opened in 1241 in Trier,Germany

The beginnings of pharmacy are ancient. When the first person expressed juice from a succulent leaf to apply to a wound, this art was being practiced. In the Greek legend, Asclepius, the god of the healing art, delegated to Hygieia the duty of compounding his remedies. She was his apothecary or pharmacist. The physician-priests of Egypt were divided into two classes: those who visited the sick and those who remained in the temple and prepared remedies for the patients.In ancient Greece and Rome and during the Middle Ages in Europe, the art of healing recognized a separation between the duties of the physician and those of the herbalist, who supplied the physician with the raw materials from which to make medicines. The Arabian influence in Europe during the 8th century ad, however, brought about the practice of separate duties for the pharmacist and physician. The trend toward specialization was later reinforced by a law enacted by the city council of Bruges in 1683, forbidding physicians to prepare medications for their patients. In America, Benjamin Franklin took a pivotal step in keeping the two professions separate when he appointed an apothecary to the Pennsylvania Hospital.
